DAILY CITY · AUSTRALIA

Find the hidden city.

Each guess tells you how far away you are—and which way to travel.

How to play Guessville

Guessville is a free daily geography game in the spirit of Wordle: one hidden Australian city, eight guesses to find it. Type any city you know — after each guess the map shows how far away you are in kilometres, with a compass arrow pointing from your guess towards the hidden city.

Colours show how warm you are, from cold blue to red-hot. After three guesses a state hint unlocks, and everyone plays the same city each day — share your emoji result and compare with friends.

About the Australia edition

The Australia edition covers 45 cities across every state and territory — the capitals plus Cairns, Broome, Alice Springs, Byron Bay, and more. Distance and direction clues test your map of Australia, and after three guesses the state is revealed as a hint.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a new city every day?

Yes. Every edition hides a new city each day at midnight (your local time), and everyone gets the same city on the same day. The reset button lets you keep playing unlimited practice rounds.

How many guesses do I get?

You have 8 guesses to find the hidden city. After every guess you see the distance in kilometres and a compass arrow pointing from your guess towards the target, and after 3 guesses a region hint unlocks.

What do the colours mean?

Colours show how warm you are: blue means cold (far away), and the scale shifts through yellow and orange to red as you close in on the hidden city.

Is Guessville free?

Yes. Guessville is free to play in your browser on phone, tablet, or desktop — no account or download needed. You can also install it as an app from your browser menu.
